Terms of use
These terms cover your use of Seat Your Family (the "Service"), the free wedding seating chart maker at seatyourfamily.com. By using the Service you agree to them. If you don't agree, please don't use the Service.
1. The Service
Seat Your Family is a browser-based planning tool that lets you lay out reception tables, assign guests to seats, and export a PDF. The tool runs in your browser; the charts you create are stored locally on your own device, not on our servers. We may add, change, or remove features at any time, and we may update these terms — material changes will be reflected in the "last updated" date above.
2. Acceptable use
You agree to use the Service only for lawful purposes. You may not:
- Attempt to disrupt, overload, reverse-engineer for malicious purposes, or gain unauthorized access to the Service or its underlying systems.
- Use the Service to store or process content that is unlawful, or that infringes someone else's rights.
- Resell, rebrand, or pass off the Service as your own.
You are responsible for the guest names and other information you enter, and for keeping your own copies (for example, by exporting a PDF).
3. Your content and data
The seating charts and guest information you create stay in your browser's local storage on your device. We don't upload, view, or back up that data, which also means we can't recover it for you if your browser data is cleared or lost. Please export a PDF of any chart you want to keep. 4. The ad-free upgrade
The Service is free to use. The free version is supported by advertising and a small number of affiliate links. You may optionally purchase a one-time upgrade (currently $2.99) that removes ads in your browser. Payments and license keys are processed by our merchant of record, Lemon Squeezy; we never receive your full payment-card details. Because the upgrade is tied to your browser's local storage, clearing your browser data or switching devices may require you to re-activate it with your license key. 5. Advertising and affiliate links
The free Service displays ads served by Google AdSense and may include affiliate links to wedding-related products. If you click an affiliate link and make a purchase, we may earn a commission at no extra cost to you. We only link to products we believe are relevant. This relationship is disclosed in full on our Privacy & disclosures page.
6. No professional advice
Our guides and the planner's suggested table capacities and spacing are general information to help you plan, not professional advice. Real venues, rental inventory, fire-code occupancy limits, and accessibility requirements vary. Always confirm dimensions, capacities, and safety requirements with your venue, rental company, and local regulations before finalizing a layout.
7. Disclaimers and limitation of liability
The Service is provided "as is" and "as available," without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied, including fitness for a particular purpose. We don't guarantee the Service will be uninterrupted, error-free, or that exported files will be free of mistakes. To the maximum extent permitted by law, Seat Your Family and its operators will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, or consequential damages arising from your use of the Service, including lost data or any planning outcome. Because the Service is free (or a nominal one-time fee), our total liability to you for any claim is limited to the amount you paid us, if any, in the prior twelve months.
8. Third-party services
The Service relies on third parties, including Google AdSense (advertising), Lemon Squeezy (payments), and our analytics provider. Your use of those features is also subject to those companies' terms and policies. We're not responsible for the content or practices of third-party sites linked from ours.
9. Changes and termination
We may modify or discontinue the Service, in whole or in part, at any time. We may update these terms; continuing to use the Service after changes take effect means you accept the revised terms.
